Asmaa Romia is a graduate student at Colorado School of Mines.

Asmaa Romia recently earned her PhD in Electrical Engineering from Colorado School of Mines, where her research focused on transportation electrification, electric vehicle (EV) charging forecasting, and energy-aware optimization of power systems. Her work emphasizes the application of advanced artificial intelligence and probabilistic forecasting techniques to better understand, predict, and manage EV charging demand, with the goal of supporting reliable, affordable transportation infrastructure as electrification accelerates.

During the final stages of her PhD, Asmaa began working as an Energy Innovator Fellow at Holy Cross Energy, where she contributes to data-driven analysis and planning efforts related to EV adoption, load forecasting, and distributed energy resources. Her work supports utilities in preparing for increased electrification while maintaining grid reliability and equity.

Throughout her academic and professional journey, Asmaa has collaborated with national laboratories, electric utilities, and industry partners on applied research that bridges advanced analytics with real-world deployment and policy-relevant outcomes. She is passionate about translating research into practical solutions that enable sustainable and inclusive transportation systems.

Asmaa is honored to be a recipient of the WTS Colorado Trailblazer Scholarship and is grateful for WTS Colorado’s continued support of women pursuing leadership roles in transportation and mobility.
