Toole Design developed the City and County of Denver’s first comprehensive street design guidelines. The guidelines are based on national best practices, input from a wide range of City departments and partner organizations, and Denver’s existing processes for design. The Complete Streets Design Guidelines embody Vision Zero principles and emphasize safety for all. While the goal of this project was to produce guidelines and standards, the work to institutionalize Complete Streets and optimize City processes was equally important. The document includes guidance for speeds, traffic volumes, space allocation, and curbside loading for a variety of context-sensitive new street types. The Guidelines also include high-quality and visionary renderings for designers to use as they advance street projects in Denver.
