Emerging Leader of the Year

Emily Clarke has been awarded the WTS Colorado Emerging Leader Award for 2020. Emily served as the committee chair for both the Membership and Recognitions committees from 2018 to 2020. Emily has put on the Annual Awards Luncheon the past three years, with attendance growing each year. This is one of the Chapter’s premier events, and Emily has coordinated everything from soliciting nominations for potential winners, to finding event space, to planning the complete flow of show. As chair of the Membership and Recognitions committee, Emily had the pleasure of assisting potential and existing members as well as the chapter’s honorary members. Under her leadership, the Colorado Chapter has remained one of the larger chapters in WTS, even during the COVID-19 pandemic. Emily has worked hard during her term to develop relationships with WTS members as the point of contact for current and prospective members. These relationships were crucial to retaining memberships during the uncertainty of 2020.

Emily has held a strong presence in both WTS Colorado and WTS International’s activities. During her time as a member and committee chair, she attended the WTS Annual Conference in Boston, MA, and the WTS Chapter Leadership Training in Denver. She is a regular at many WTS Colorado Chapter hosted events throughout the year. Emily believes it is important to attend these events to help members put a face to the person who helps them with their memberships.

Professionally, Emily has worked in public information and outreach for Kiewit Infrastructure Co. on projects ranging in size from $7 million to more than $1 billion dollars. In her current role as Public Information Coordinator on the Central 70 Project, she is the conduit between the construction team and the general public. By embedding herself with the operations team, she is able to successfully communicate construction impacts to the general masses and act as a liaison for the businesses along the I-70 corridor.
